An "elite" school for European Union administrators. They do not need to speak Luxembourgish, therefore it's unfairly giving them an advantage over the local population. Corrupt Europe.

This school does not care about the students the teachers are TRULLY such d*cks they should try and learn what they are teaching and should take the tests that they give. They give tests left and right, we as students deserve to take breaks, the teachers give mini tests like it’s candy every week when they feel like it. And the food is just disgusting and it’s too expensive 6,50€ that’s crazy for something that tastes soo bad. Thank you for your time.

This school mostly just doesn’t care about its students. Although some teachers understand they have to give us room to breathe, most of them treat us like we can just take in piles and piles of information all the time.
Yes, there’s a long test schedule so teachers can’t give us a long test every week, but they’re completely free to give us mini-tests whenever they want, no matter how often. Some even make them as long as long tests and make them count just as much for the mark.
Basically, if you’re at this school you’re being overworked.

Edit: I will never get over how much some of my teachers have impacted my mental health (negatively) and I know it sounds a little dramatic but some of the teachers really are not cut out to be dealing with people who are in a significant point in their development. I have had teachers humiliate me in front of the whole class and then kick me out of the class because of a small misunderstanding on their part and poor communication.
This is where the system fails usually, when you complain to management about a teacher, no matter how many people have done it, it never matters because it’s really difficult for a teacher to be told off in this school. Usually what happens is they’re let off completely with a small warning.
Also, I won’t even begin to talk about some of the other flaws of this system (e.g. the poor organisation of homework giving -especially in S6 oh my god-) because it will take me too long, but just imagine crying yourself to sleep every night because you didn’t have enough time to do everything and dreading the next day because your teacher might yell at you for not being able to complete the task you were sent and you’ll get the idea

I have no idea what people are talking about cause the food is like at restaurant and yes it is expensive 6,95 and at a restaurant it would be like 25 for what we get to eat the teachers are nice some of them are new and don't know but they do try the security guards are nice the scholl has special busses to transport from like all of Luxembourg and the mini tests are not as often as they say I have never gotten more then 3 mini tests in a week and have a long test every 2 weeks the only thing that I can say thta was bad that I don't understand the french L3 cause they say everything in French and don't put anything on SMS but that's litterally it and I think it's just the teacher so good school I don't know why it's getting hate

Even if I know lots of people had a bad experience in this school, I personally keep a very good memory of my days spent at ESL 1. I've been part of this school since kindergarten and I am very thankful for all the life experiences it brought me.

Their is always a good atmosphere, student (from what I've experienced) are always friendly and inclusive. The school has some pretty good infrastructures: numerous rooms dedicated to computer classes with decent material, a wide variety of sports equipments and halls (with notably an access to the Coque for even more possibilities) and a very well furnished library that will satisfy every need, wether you you're looking for precise information for your studies or you just want to entertain yourself. Classrooms in themselves are pretty average, nothing extravagant nor shocking (except the insane amount of chewing gums under table but I think this is a universal problem).

There are indeed a few weak points that should be taken into account. First, the food quality is really lacking and definitely too expensive for what it is, I was grateful when I finally got the authorisation to eat outside which allowed me to enjoy all that was offered at Auchan not far away. Second, some teachers here really don't deserve their job and barely have the capacity to teach anything. Some of them were, from their colleagues testimony, arguably worse than the majority of the students they were teaching, and having the bad luck of being assigned one of these teachers can definitely ruin a student's impression of the subject. Lastly, and I think this is the point that upsets most of the students, the administration doesn't listen at all to the student's feedbacks. They do provide some questionnaires and meetings to discuss over certain issues but it never goes further, some subject that were regularly coming back in discussion never experienced any improvement, sometimes even becoming worse.

But those negative points shouldn't blind you of all the good aspects of this establishment. Most teachers are really competent and enjoyable, the general level of teaching is high and students in difficulty receive a lot of support, failling in a subject is really hard for those who work seriously, even if they lack facilities. Students are offered a wide range of choices regarding the subject they want to learn, and even if the obligatory teaching of music is something I really don't understand, the more you advance, the more freedom you have regarding subjects. Mathematics is cut into different levels to suit everyone, from the lowest level for those who are not interested in pursuing this subject to the highest level, advanced math, which provides a really high level that renders nearly any first year of university useless in this particular field. Science is also well taught, and even if these subjects don't have the best reputation among students, they do provide a good knowledge and showing interest in class can be really rewarding. But of course the greatest strength of the European school lies in language classes, providing top tier education from native teachers, but the best part is having acces to a wide pool of native speaker among your pears from other language section, which provides a chance to learn a language more casualy in parallel of classes by just making new friends which is clearly the best way possible to learn a new language, be assured that you will come out of ESL with something new in your toolkit !
Outside of school, I should mention that there are some pretty good features too. Regarding transportation, we have an easy access to the tram and most useful bus lines, their is a bke station just in front of the school (which by the way offers a free account to all workers of the European institutions) and just in case, their are two parkings next to the school for parents that want to drop their child, quite handy ! Other than that, the national library
