I was considering starting to bartend but really wanted a good understanding going forward on the job. I decided to take a two-week course at Gaslamp Bartending school. Nino did most of the in class work which was helpful and as I always do, I took lots of notes.

Joe was our instructor in the bar training area and he was absolutely incredible. I loved getting to learn from him, and there were some recipes I couldn't seem to get memorized. Joe helped me figure out ways to remember them, and gave me the confidence to put my book away and trust in myself. What was even more incredible was Joe’s patience with not just me but everyone in the class.

He gave us all real world knowledge that I found very important and practical.

When we did the Live Service Training I was definitely a little nervous, however we were lucky enough to have Joe with us. He was awesome and made me and others feel very comfortable considering it was an insane evening of patrons ordering drinks.

I feel ready to go out there and get a job, knowing that I have been trained by the best. If you are lucky enough to get Joe, he literally goes above and beyond to give you the tools to succeed not just in bartending but his advice transcends into all areas of life. I had an excellent experience with the 1-week bartending course at GBS recently. Nino's long history and depth of experience working at/with the bars in San Diego made for a very thorough and comprehensive curriculum, which included recipes and practice pouring close to 100 different cocktails. They dispensed great advice with respect to searching for bartending jobs in San Diego, and also offered both refresher classes and a live training experience at a bar in La Jolla. Definitely money well spent!

For starters let me just say taking this course will forever be one of the BEST decisions I’ve ever made. Nino from the start was extremely informative and supportive. He was able to work with me through my busy schedule and made sure his students were prepared for his course. I had no experience in the industry (as I had just turned 21) and this course taught me EVERYTHING I needed to know and much more. Nino truly cares for his students success and learning. It’s really difficult to find business owners like him nowadays, he’s not in it for the money he’s there to create the best of the best. The classroom is the perfect learning environment, as it is set up as an actual mock bar with all the other fun features. You get more than enough practice and a ton of knowledge in a fun, enjoyable way. I also had Ely as an instructor and he without a doubt is great at teaching discipline and everything there is to know about bartending. I created a strong bond with my classmates which was a plus I never expected prior to joining. After graduating, Nino and Ely continued to help me by offering an additional class to make sure I was set and even got me a job interview. Last but not least this course is extremely affordable. They offer a payment plan if you don’t want to pay in full (this is what I did) and it was an extremely easy process. If you’re looking into joining the industry and don’t know where to start THIS IS THE PLACE TO START. Nino and Ely I admire how dedicated you guys are to the industry and your students.
